Emerald dragonflies make up the family Corduliidae. They are found worldwide, but also include a few species that are quite rare. They are typically black or dark-brown with large green eyes. In a closer look, this family has dissimilar wing triangles and an anal loop in the hind wing that is foot shaped but without a distinct toe. Get out your magnifying glass!
